The Devil Went Down to Georgia…

Nicki Styx has always known that the devil’s in the details – but does he have to move in next door, too?  Worse, he won’t take no for an answer.  Nicki would never leave her beloved boyfriend, ER doc Joe Bascombe, but hell hath no fury like a devil scorned.  He’s determined to make Nicki’s life a living hell – even if it means exposing Nicki as an unwilling ghoulfriend to the dead.

Now, just when she was getting used to being able to see and hear – and help – spirits, Nicki’s got a whole new set of problems.  With ghosts descending from all sides, the bereaved knocking down her door, and Joe trying to take things to the next level, Nicki may finally be in over her head.  It would be so easy to dance with the devil…but if Nicki crosses over to the dark side, she may never leave.

This is the third book in Terri Garey’s Nicki Styx series.  They are light and humorous.  After reading this I realized I had somehow missed reading the second book.  It turned out fine, I had not missed enough to make me realize it until I found the second book still on my TBR mountain.  Oops!!  Nicki runs a vintage clothing boutique with her gay male friend.  The devil has a thing for her & is always trying to find ways to get her to leave her boyfriend (who used to married to her sister) for him.  And if that isn’t enough…she has a rather odd transvestite grandparent who happens to be a magic practicing Wiccan.  I think from her you can gather where the humor comes into play.  There are numerous situations that arise that throw a kink into Nicki’s plans for a HEA life.  It could seem that it is too unrealistic that so many obstacles pop up, but Hey!  Its fiction & its supposed to be that way.  All in all a good series, and one that I will continue to read, hopefully without skipping anymore of them.
